Rubber electrical grommets protect cable jackets at panel openings. A fire-resistant version requires a formulation and finished design suited to the equipment's specified requirements, alongside the mechanical fit. Custom geometry can coordinate the cable passage, retaining region and surrounding enclosure.
Define the required fire behavior within the complete assembly. Material choice, rubber section and neighboring parts all belong to that assessment; a component name does not establish a particular fire classification. The grommet must also maintain its intended cable clearance and retention during ordinary operation.
Check the finished panel hole for burrs and match its thickness to the retaining profile. Plan the cable assembly sequence so a large termination does not damage the rubber during threading. The cable's own insulation and any required anchorage remain part of the electrical design rather than being replaced by the grommet.
After the route is secured, inspect for a lip pulled inward or a bundle pressing heavily against one side. During maintenance, retain the specified formulation and dimensions when replacing the part. A visually similar rubber ring may differ in the properties relevant to the equipment assessment, so matching only the outside shape is insufficient for preserving the original design.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The grommet must also maintain its intended cable clearance and retention during ordinary operation. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
