Special silicone grommets provide a custom molded interface for cable or wire passages. The profile can be developed around the opening and surrounding clearance, including features that determine orientation. The fitting sequence should be considered while the geometry is being selected.
A connector may be larger than the final cable passage, or access behind the panel may be limited once other parts are fitted. Establish whether the rubber is installed before termination or before nearby hardware closes the space. The selected shape should make that sequence practical without requiring excessive stretching or sharp tools against the lip.
Check the finished opening and wall thickness, then fit the grommet into a clean, deburred seat. Inspect the retaining areas before they become concealed. Route the wiring and secure its supports before the final check for distortion. Choose the compound for the actual environment and cleaning exposure. During servicing, recheck the custom profile after wiring changes, especially at corners or locating features where displacement may be less visible from the front.
