A custom molded vacuum suction cup for automation equipment is part of a handling system that brings a cup into contact with a workpiece, establishes a hold and releases it at the required position. The cup shape and compound should follow the workpiece surface and the machine's movement, rather than being selected solely from the available space on the end tooling.
Start with the contact location. The lip needs an area it can seal against without crossing an opening, seam or raised feature. Consider variation between workpieces, including their position when presented to the machine. A cup aligned with one sample may need a different arrangement if ordinary parts arrive at a slightly different angle.
Next review the approach and holding stages with the intended vacuum system. The mounting position should allow the cup to settle without being crushed by rigid tooling. Assess the forces created by acceleration, orientation and the workpiece's shape. A large footprint does not remove the need to evaluate that dynamic arrangement.
Release is another design condition. The cup should let go through the system's intended sequence without dragging the part or disturbing its placement. Check clearance to the receiving fixture and neighboring tooling during that stage, including the space occupied by the cup after the workpiece is released.
Size, material and color can be customized for the finished design. Trial representative parts across the intended operating cycle and inspect the cup after repeated contacts. Damage on one side can reveal an approach issue, while contamination on the lip can change pickup behavior. Keep cleaning access and replacement fit practical, and preserve the evaluated cup configuration when the machine is serviced or the tooling is revised.

Identify key dimensions, mating surfaces and quantity
Agree the compound and manufacturing approach
Review the fit and agreed requirements in the assembly
Manufacture and check against the approved requirements
Identify temperature, contact fluids and repeated movement.
Consider hardness together with wall thickness and support.
Check access, mating dimensions and the fitting sequence.
Yes. Show the receiving opening, contact surfaces and clearance limits. We can review the dimensions and retaining features around the intended fit.
Agree the critical dimensions, material, hardness, visible surfaces and sample requirements. Explain how the part is installed and which interfaces control its function.
A sample can help explain the structure. Compare it with the assembly because wear, swelling or compression may have changed its original dimensions.
The material, part geometry, tooling, quantity and finishing affect the quotation. Include the intended batch size and delivery destination when describing your requirements.
