A silicone automotive grommet for round cable should follow the cable's finished outside surface as well as the panel opening. The diameter needs to include the actual jacket and any covering present where the cable passes through, rather than a nominal conductor or unfinished cable size.
Develop the retained groove, bore and exposed profile around the installation. Choose the material for the local temperature, fluids and cleaning conditions. The cable should remain within its permitted routing geometry without a sharp bend imposed directly at the grommet mouth.
Seat the grommet and position the cable in its final supports before inspecting the fit. Check that pulling the cable into clips has not lifted a flange or compressed the jacket against one side. During replacement, reassess the entry if the cable jacket or wrapping changes. A similar-looking cable can have a different finished diameter, so reusing the old entry component without checking that interface may leave a changed fit around the route.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. The diameter needs to include the actual jacket and any covering present where the cable passes through, rather than a nominal conductor or unfinished cable size. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
