A custom wire grommet seal forms the rubber interface at a firewall cable entry. Harness service can disturb its seat even when the rubber is not deliberately removed, so the entry should be included in the final inspection after wiring work.
Choose the profile around the panel and cable covering, with material, hardness, color and dimensional customization available. The compound and completed barrier arrangement should match the actual exposure and required function at the location. Keep enough cable route space for service access without using the seal to absorb a pulling action.
After a connector or support is changed, follow the lead back to the panel. Inspect for a lifted lip, twisted body or cable no longer centered in the passage. Remove residue from the contact area before reseating it. If the grommet has followed the cable partly out of the opening, restore the retained profile independently rather than pulling from the opposite side. Check both faces where accessible and replace damaged rubber before surrounding components make the entry difficult to inspect again.
Photos illustrate structure or material only. If the grommet has followed the cable partly out of the opening, restore the retained profile independently rather than pulling from the opposite side. ETOL directly manufactures custom-shaped silicone and rubber parts to your requirements.
