Finding the right type of part
Should I start with a product category or a material?
Start with the job the part needs to do. A grommet protects a panel opening, a gasket follows a sealing joint, and a foot supports a base. Once you have identified the shape and mating surfaces, compare materials for the operating conditions.
Are these standard stock parts or custom manufacturing examples?
The catalog presents examples of parts and structures that can be customized. A similar-looking item is a useful starting point, but its photograph does not define your dimensions or material. Available dimension tables describe the specific listed versions.
What if my component combines several functions?
Describe each interface separately. A molded cover might also need a sealing lip, locating holes and flexible buttons. Show how those features relate to the surrounding assembly so the design can combine them without obstructing installation or movement.
How can I compare two similar product examples?
Compare their attachment method, contact surfaces and available space before comparing color or appearance. Read the individual overview and any dimension table to identify the important differences, then use your assembly dimensions to define the required version.
