Rubber Caps, Plugs & Stoppers

Rubber caps cover exposed ends, while plugs and stoppers fit inside openings. They can protect unused ports, close holes or cover tube and container ends in equipment assemblies. Tapered bodies, flanges and pull tabs serve different fitting needs. ETOL makes custom rubber plugs and silicone stoppers to match the opening, engagement depth and removal method.

Matching a cap, plug or stopper to an opening

Should I use an end cap or a hole plug?

An end cap fits over an outside surface, such as the end of a tube. A hole plug engages the inside of an opening. Measure the surface that will retain the part, including any shoulder, groove or obstruction that limits how far it can fit.

Which dimensions define a tapered rubber stopper?

Record the smaller and larger diameters, overall length and intended insertion depth. Also note the opening's diameter and any taper in its wall. A stopper needs a suitable engagement area; its largest diameter alone does not describe the installed fit.

What is a rubber stopper with a hole used for?

A designed hole can provide a passage for tubing, a probe or another component while the outside fits the receiving opening. The passage size and surrounding wall must suit that component. A drilled opening does not automatically provide a sealed connection.

Can a removable plug also stay securely in place?

Retention and removal should be designed together. The engagement length, retaining lip and material affect how the plug holds, while a pull tab or flange can provide access for removal. Include the expected handling and available finger or tool clearance.

Does choosing a butyl stopper establish suitability for a vial?

No. The stopper profile and exact compound must suit the container and intended contact conditions. Butyl identifies a material family, not an approval for a particular use. Container closure, processing and end-use requirements need to be defined separately.

Can you supply custom caps for furniture legs and tubing?

As a rubber cap manufacturer, ETOL develops custom rubber furniture caps around the leg profile, engagement depth and floor contact. Rubber tubing end caps need the tube diameter, wall shape and desired removal method. These are different fitting requirements, so provide the dimensions of the surface that will retain each cap.

Can I order silicone bottle stoppers or rubber sink stoppers in bulk?

ETOL manufactures silicone wine stoppers, other bottle closures and rubber sink stoppers to the required opening and removal arrangement. At our factory, custom rubber bungs and silicone stoppers are developed as separate designs for their intended containers or drains. For a bulk order, define each profile, quantity and packing format; also identify any intended food or liquid contact when specifying the material.
