Which measurements determine a rubber grommet size?
Measure the panel hole, panel thickness and required cable passage. The outside flange keeps the grommet at the opening, while the groove receives the panel edge. Check the full profile in the dimension drawing; outside diameter alone does not tell you which hole it fits.
What is the difference between an open and a closed grommet?
An open grommet has a passage for a cable or tube. A closed grommet covers an unused opening or uses a designed membrane that can be opened for the intended entry. The required cable path and closure function determine which structure is appropriate.
When is a split cable grommet useful?
A split design can be fitted around a cable when an attached connector cannot pass through the center. Its split and retaining profile need to hold their positions after installation. Choose a purpose-designed split part rather than cutting an ordinary grommet and assuming it will retain the same fit.
Why does a grommet come out of the panel?
Check whether the groove matches the panel thickness and the retaining profile matches the hole. A rough edge, folded flange or cable pulling sideways can disturb the fit. Support the cable separately where needed and inspect both sides of the panel after installation.
Can I order rubber grommets in bulk for several panel sizes?
Yes. ETOL supplies rubber grommets for custom production batches. For bulk rubber grommets, list the quantity, panel-hole dimensions, panel thickness and cable passage for each version. Similar outside diameters can conceal different grooves or openings, so keep each profile identified separately when specifying packing and assembly quantities.
