What determines the feel of a silicone keypad?
Key feel depends on the flexible web, travel, support and switching arrangement as well as silicone hardness. Compare the molded keypad in the complete housing. Changing the material alone may change several keys without resolving a local geometry problem.
What should a keypad drawing show?
Show the key centers, overall base profile, button heights, locating features and housing openings. Include the switching layout and available space behind the panel. These references help align each operating surface with the component it actuates.
Can individual buttons have different shapes or markings?
Yes. The molded layout can use different key shapes, raised features and agreed markings. Plan them around the user's viewing and pressing direction. Closely spaced keys should remain distinguishable and accessible when the keypad is installed.
Why does a key stick after the housing is closed?
Check for a trapped base edge, tight housing aperture, misaligned locating feature or excessive compression. Compare the key's movement before and after fastening the enclosure. A keypad that moves freely on the bench may behave differently when its supports are constrained.
